Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1913. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good +. 397p, octavo. Illustrated. This copy is signed by Margaret Morley, who has transcribed a verse from a poem by Samuel M. Peck on ffep, "Sassafras, by Samuel Minturn Peck. Swift to catch the voice of spring / Soon its tasselled blooms appear / modest in their blossoming / breathing calm and waving cheer / rare the greeting that they send / to the fragrant wildwood blooms / bidding every blossom blend / in a chorus of perfumes. Margaret Morley Tyrone, April 1915." Additional ownership inscription on front endpaper of Ada M. Candler, Tyrone NC 1915. A very good + copy in publisher's box. Top edge gilt. Very light spotting on blue cloth, minor wear to spine ends and corners. Top of publisher's box has significant wear/insect damage (not affecting book), but is solid.
