It was the jungle and the animals in it that we went to see and which interested me most." Narrative of experience in the jungles of Trinidad, Haiti, and Surinam and the animals the author encountered. Thirty-two illustrations of many of the animals, including peripatus, pouch-back frog, cave opossum, blood-lapping bat, crab-eating racoon, red howler monkey, and tayra. 292 pp. with index. Decorative covers with image of howler monkey. Spine is sunned, and cover corners are bumped. Endpapers are maps of the Caribbean. Gift inscription on front free endpaper.
