About This Item

First Edition/Fifth Printing; a Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket with only a light push at both spine ends, else Fine/Fine. SIGNED and inscribed by the author on the half title page. An outstanding copy of this Vietnam POW's story, written by US Congressman Sam Johnson; Johnson served 29 years in the Air Force, flew 62 combat missions in Korea, and then served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam before being shot down over North Vietnam and taken prisoner; this book is the story of his harrowing stay at "Alcatraz" in Hanoi, the highest security prison camp in Vietnam at the time, used only for the highest risk prisoners. A frightening and fascinating tale of courage, humor, and survival; a nice addition to the Vietnam War collection or military history collection. In a protective mylar cover and will ship in a sturdy box.
