About This Item

The Canadiana Company. Very Good. 1959. Hardcover. 181, [2], 156 p. 21.5 cm. Sound and square binding in cloth-covered boards. Rub worn at the corner tips. Text block edges slightly soiled. Inside pages are clean and unmarked, overall with two leaves having minor edge spotting. A reprint edition of two of the Great Stories of Canada written for children and published by Macmillan in the 1950s. There was a set of ten two-in-one volumes published in this format. This copy includes the complete text of Roderick Haig-Brown's Captain of the Discovery about George Vancouver and Thomas Raddall's The Rover about the Nova Scotian privateer ship. Both are illustrated with the original black and white artwork with a colour wash. An attractive volume for someone who collects the Great Stories of Canada series. .
