Very Good in rubbed boards/no dustwrapper. 8vo. b&w illustrations Selections from the Canterbury Tales, edited and with notes and a glossary by JM Manly; includes frontispiece plate illustration with tissue-guard, and 6 full-page b&w plates throughout; includes introductory chapter (Chaucer's Life, Chaucer's England, The Canterbury Tales, The Language of Chaucer, Versification, Astronomy and Astrology); this copy in school-prize binding of full calf with gilt titling and devices to spine, circular school coat of arms to front board (Girls' Grammar School Rockhampton); prize plate to front pastedown; no publishing date, but pre-1930 (prize plate dated 1930); text block tanned, occasional mild foxing, o.w. Very Good throughout; leather with some wear to foot of spine, and with some rubbing/wear along spine.
