Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 8vo, illustrated, On January 1st, 1753, a maidservent, Elizabeth Canning by name, disappeared from her master's house in Aldermanbury. She returned a month later, but to this day no one has been able to discover whither she went, or why. She claimed to have been abducted, but there was no viable evidence of such. One of the most remarkable causes celèbres of the Eighteenth Century. Bound in yellow cloth, some staining on cloth and spine paper spine label darkened and rubbed. Hard to read label. A few foxing marks on title page, other pages clean, a good copy.
