Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1899. Reprint. 8vo, pp. xviii, 366. Frontispiece and illustrations throughout. A very good tight copy in original printed dj. This was first issued in 1880. Rare in dj. An ornithologist, send by the Smithsonian Institute in 1876, he discovered 22 new species of birds in Grenada, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe and St. Vincent. Ober also discusses coffee and sugar plantations, social life and volcanos.
