About This Item

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.: John C. Winston Co., 1913. First Edition Later Printing 5th or later Printing. Hardcover. Fair/Good. Early 20th-century YA series featuring the adventuresome Campfire Girls, modeled after the real organization of the same name, which had started in 1910 as the first nonsectarian, multicultural organization for girls in America. The series was written by various women authors through the 1930s. This book is #2 of 14 penned by one by one of the most prolific writers, Margaret Vandercook. Orig. published in 1913, this is a slightly later printing, listing to book #10 in front matter (along with other girls' series titles by this & other authors on the DJ flaps & rear). In 264 pages, with plain endpapers; frontispiece + 3 internal illustrations by an uncredited artist, all present & lovely! Hardcover 8vo has mustard-colored cloth-covered boards with a red & black stamped image of girls rowing a canoe to front, black lettering to front & spine. Condition is Fair-Good: generally quite clean, pages moderately tanned, heavier to edges, but completely unmarked. Binding secure, hinges intact, but a bit shaky. Moderate rubbing to extremities, heavier with dampstaining behind front image wrapping around spine to rear board. The unclipped DJ (replicating the same image as the front book cover, with a blue background) is Good-: largely intact, but with a few significant chips to back cover & all corners, both ends of spine; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover for your collection. Our photos depict the EXACT book you will receive from us--never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
