Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1921. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Inscribed by Author. Inscribed and signed by author on front end-paper "To Agnes Rix with grateful wishes, Henry van Dyke, April 25 1921". Van Dyke was the US Minister to the Netherlands and Luxembourg between 1913 and 1916. Miss Rix seems to have been known to him during that period. Cover design probably by Margaret Armstrong. Dark blue clean covers with ornate decoration and lettering in gilt and green and orange. Black and white frontis with protective tissue leaf, all additional 7 plates are present. Lightly rubbed corners, sound binding, clean pages and plates. Gilt on spine is rather dulled. Contains colour frontis and colour plates (full page illustrations). No dust-jacket.
