Baghdad: Hasso Bros, 1925. Hardcover. Very good. Album of 73 sepia photogravure images on 50 plates. 9.5 x 12 inches, oblong, String tied faux-alligator boards stamped in gilt. Edges rubbed, light spotting/foxing to some of the plates, primarily in the margins. The only bibliographic information is what appears on the cover. Each image captioned in English. Image size 6.5 x 8 inches (for full-page plates; some pages have two images). Subject matter includes street scenes in Baghdad and Basrah; ethnic studies and portraits; public markets; mosques, shrines, and monuments; Bedouins, Jewish moneychangers; women crushing rice and washing clothes on the banks of the Tigris, children, a mullah teaching, a Kurdish tribesman, Assyrian mountaineers, etc. An uncommon and lovely production.
