About This Item
The Bobbs-Merrill Company, Indianapolis, IN, 1931. Edition Unstated. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition. Book Signed by Author. Warmly inscribed copy of Caseyâs âJazz Ageâ crime novel which was drawn from a combination of his reports on the mobs in Chicago for the Chicago Daily News and his travels in the Orient. He has signed on the front free end paper: âFor / [name] / Who for some odd reason wanted an autograph â / In astonishment, / Bob Casey / Chicago ? Nov. 15 -31.â Likely to be a first edition, but Bobbs-Merrill was not consistent in how it designated a first edition at the time, so I have not flagged it as such Size: Small Octavo (7 1/2-8"). 304 pages. Item Type: Book. The text block is a bit shaken with a crack in the gutter of the half-title, exposing the webbing. The cheap paper is tanned from age, but still supple. Bound in orange cloth over boards with an embossed title printed in a darker orange on the front cover and spine. Wear at the tips, exposing the boards at the bottom corners. The spine is darkened from exposure with wear at the folds and some fraying at the head and foot. The book is in a *facsimile* dust jacket (clearly marked as such) that is in a clear archival Brodart sleeve. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Crime Fiction; United States; 1930s; Antiquarian & Rare. Signed by Author. Main Picture: Casey (1931) Cambodian Quest (Signed) - Front cover and spine with inset showing the signature and date.
