About This Item

New York: Saturday Review Press/Dutton, 1974. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Easily the most popular and best-selling Western genre writer of the past 75 years, most of L'Amour's novels appeared first in paperback. "The Californios" is an exception, published in 1974 by Saturday Review Press, it is the story of an Irish-American family in the early 1800s settled on a ranch in Malibu in danger of being foreclosed by an unscrupulous businessman and his outlaw associates. But Eileen Mulkerin is a strong woman who refuses to sell and it becomes the mission of her son, Sean, a sea-faring adventurer like his father, to protect his mother and save his heritage. Boards and text show a slight spine lean with lower end of spine bumped, some soiling on text edges, o/w book is clean and unmarked, tight, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows some minor edgewear including a single, quarter-inch tear on lower edge of back panel, and a bit of chipping at spine ends, no significant damage, not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
