About This Item
8vo, original cloth with gilt lettering, illustrated, 255, [4] pp. Binding a bit worn and faded, joints somewhat cracked, 4 pages loose, some aging and toning; otherwise very good. The author tells us in the preface that Americans often visit other countries before they see there own. He informs the reader they should check out California, and in the first part of the book he provides travel plans for doing that. In the second part of the book, he talks about the impressive agricultural potential of Southern California, and that railroads have opened up new land for settlement. Parts of this book were originally published in Harper's Magazine, the Tribune, and the Evening Post, but the content was revised for book publication.
