Academy Library Guild. Near Fine in Good dust jacket. 1956. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine book in Good fragile dust jacket. Jacket has chipping and small tears, light soil, now protected by fresh mylar sleeve. The book has name of former owner inked to top margin of second endpaper, where there is also a small chip. No other defects. Binding is tight, pages are clean and unmarked. . Considered a first edition because the 1956 date on the copyright page matches the date on the title page, no edition statement or other publications listed. Although considered to be historical fiction, the author takes pains to stress its authenticity: "this book is carefully based on the personal recollections of Senor Don Estolano Larios and deals with Californians of a century ago," that is, memories from the 1850s and earlier. Scarce. . 8vo 8" - 9" tall. 267 pages. T4 .
