California: The Book Club of California / The Grabhorn Press, 1941. Limited Edition . Pamphlet. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. This series was limited to 600 copies each of issue, offered to members of the Book Club of California in 1941. This set offered here only includes issues 1-6, lacking the final 2 issues (originally intended to be 12 issues). The California on Canvas series featured in each issue a reproduction, in color, of an early California scene drawn by a contemporary artist. This series is designed and printed by the Grabhorn Press. Single page folded booklets, closed measuring approx 9.5inT x 8.25inW, opening to a full 16.5in wide. Scenes portrayed: Custom House Monterey, River Bridge Sacramento, Steamer Cornelia, Telegraph Hill San Francisco, Yerba Buena and High Flume Tunnel Hill. The entire set is in solid VERY GOOD+ condition. Light toning to the quality thick stock paper used. MINOR, and although to be expected for age, surprisingly nice. No markings. The illustrations are crisp and the colors still vibrant. Set is preserved in an acid-free archival bag. Suitable for framing.
