About This Item
Paperback. Very Good. Paris: G. L. M., 1936. Small softcover in titled wraps. 8vo, 39 pages. Illustrated with 4 drawings by Hans Bellmer, printed rectos only, on pink coated stock. Text in French. Includes articles by Henri Michaux, Gisele Prassinos, Valentine Penrose, Hans Bellmer, Pierre Robin and Carrouges. One of presumably 300 trade copies, out of series, printed on wove stock (colophon cites an additional 35 examples printed on other papers). The first and by far the scarcest issue of this important surrealist pediodical. With partial wrap-around band laid in though possibly for another 1936 issue as it mentions illustrations by Picasso which this issue does not include. Covers lightly soiled and toned at edges, binding glue has dried and beginning to fail but still holds. Text only lightly age-toned. A near very good copy of a scarce Surreal document. (fprwb)
