"Count Cagliostro, or the man that was know by that name, appeared in England in 1776, and thanks to his exceptional gifts as a clairvoyant and healer, he became the idol of the town. Together with his wife Serafina they travelled Europe where he was active in secret societies. This book deals with a con he was involved in to sell a non existant diamond necklace to Marie Antoinette, and the aftermath which in part led to the French Revolution. " CONDITION Purple bds with all over blind stamped lotus decoration, gilt title to spine (bds fresh with a few sl marks, spine sl faded, title starting to dull) portrait frontis, Red/Black title page with nice Morris style wood block border, pp 256 with bright interior (not inscribed, frontis sl yellowed, original booksellers stamp to both pastedowns and title page). An exceptionally good copy.. Re-Issue. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
