San Francisco: A. M. Robertson, 1916. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Custom Clear Mylar. 168 pp. SIGNED/INSCRIBED by George Sterling twice in ink as a presentation copy to his friend, Tom Gregory. On a front free endpaper: "Dear Tom: Happy be all you remember! Sad be all you forget! I am yours to the end of the trail, and - may it be long and wet! Yours ever, George. San Francisco, Oct. 15th, 1922." On the front ad page: "For Tom Gregory from George Sterling". Corrections (by Sterling?) in pencil to typos at pages 10, 11, 92 and 161. A group of poems, including those "On The Great War". Poet/Playwright George Sterling (1869-1926) was a resident member of early Carmel's bohemian group and a friend of Jack London, Mary Austin and Robinson Jeffers. His later years were spent in San Francisco, where he died by his own hand in 1926. Mattilla A12. A Very Good or better copy (Openings to gutters; rubbed spine; some edgewear), now in a custom 4mil clear mylar jacket.
