A brilliantly illustrated book (Barbara Bader in her 'American Picturebooks" devotes two full pages to this book). Story of the alley cat who makes good. Surprisingly, in a year of very stiff competition, Bacon did not win a Caldecott Award or Honor. Corners bumped; small tear at spine top. A clean and unmarked book.
