Born on June 13, 1893, in Oxford, England, Sayers was also a renowned playwright and translator, particularly noted for her translation of Dante's "Divine Comedy." She was a contemporary and acquaintance of writers such as C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and was a member of the Inklings, an informal literary discussion group associated with the University of Oxford. Sayers' works are considered a standard in classic detective fiction, characterized by their well-crafted plotting and her use of classical themes. She passed away on December 17, 1957.
