Burlesque tales and poetry were parodies of other author's works. They were satirical and humorous, which generally encompasses Thackerys writings. Many were written under pseudonymns such as Gahan and Titmarsh. Writings included in the volume were originally printed in Punch and other magazines. Eight novels (more like short stories) are included, as well as The Diary of C. Jeames de la Pluche, Esq. , With His Letters, The Tremendous Adventures of Major Gahan, and four additional sections. 89 illustrations included. Green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine and top edge. Very light wear at the corners and spine ends. [17]; 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall .
