About This Item
London: Gollancz, 1948. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's blue boards with gilt lettering to the spine. A very attractive near fine copy (with bright and clean boards an NO inscriptions). The dustwrapper is also in VG+ condition with very minor, shallow loss at the head and tail of the spine (not affecting any lettering). A very nice copy indeed. Professor Gervase Fen, always in pursuit of a witty epigram, declares candidacy for Parliament, ready to serve the good people of "Where was it again?" His political ambitions are side-tracked by the murdered policeman who crops up on the campaign trail, the escaped naked lunatic "Woodrow Wilson", a peculiar clergyman, and a love-struck pig. Photographs/scans available upon request.
