A lovely example of this first edition of this charming work of fiction about a Welsh Sealyham Terrier, illustrated by Cecil Aldin. The first edition, first impression of this work, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, and with further vignette illustrations throughout. These illustrations are the work of British artist Cecil Aldin, known for his paintings and sketches of animals, sports, and rural life, and most particularly for his illustrations of dogs.Author James Douglas's charming work in narrated by Butch, a Sealyham terrier, a rare Welsh breed of working dog. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with fading to back strip and to head of front and rear boards. Light spotting to fore edge of text block. Significant losses of paper to dust wrapper back strip head and tail, with chipping to wrap heads and tails. Tape repairs to dust wrapper reverse at back strip and head of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good Indeed
