The author describes the natural state of the human mind as generally good but ignorant and prone to vice unless it is educated and enlightened to cultivate a sense of religion and love of truth (this in an incredibly simplified synopsis of the author's propositions). Full calf with gilt-lettered red spine label, raised spine bands, [4], 15, [37], 344 pages. Covers edgeworn and joints weak, front cover held by binder's cords, text block sound with no loosened pages, pages clean with some age-toning and a fairly faint dampstain to the lower right hand area through most of the first half of the book, affecting only the lower three lines of text at the most, no chips or tears. . Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Cambridge University Press. 1900. FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (8.9 x 6 inches). Neat previous owner name to the top of the front blank free endpaper and a neat 4 line inscription on the verso of the same leaf. Some sporadic foxing throughout and a few pages with neat pencil underlining (which could be easily erased if desired) otherwise a very good copy in publishers dark blue cloth with the spine lettered in gilt. Boards with single blind ruled border lines. Spine has a few small white marks to the cloth and the book is a bit rubbed and bumped to the edges but Overall this is a very good copy of Russell's third book. Only 1500 copies were published.

The text block is solid, clean and square. Endpapers are clear of markings with NO previous owner's signature. Spine is stiff and appears unread, boards rigid and tips pointed.Just a bit of tanning on the endpapers. It is a beautiful copy! The dust jacket is NOT price clipped and has about a one inch loss at the upper right hand corner of the front cover with a though bit of shelf wear and tiny loss here and there on edges and at center cover and spine ends and at tips. The reason this is a third printing is that the dust jacket cover says "Third Printing...15,000." Looks dashing in its shiny new plastic cover. .

1684 Spanish Louis of Granada Catechism Catholic Council Trent + 1666 Memorial

Louis of Granada was a 16th-century Spanish Dominican friar and preacher. Best known for his homilies and devotionals, Granada wrote an important edition of the 1566 Roman Catechism of the Council of Trent. Granada edited and translated the Catechism to make it more understandable for Spanish readers. Years later, the work was translated into French and published throughout the French speaking world.
This 1684 edition was translated by Girard and published in Paris in four volumes. This set features a 1666 printing of Granada's "Additions to Memorial of a Christian Life" – a supplement to his earlier 'Christian Life'. This work was written to instruct on proper and moral living under the Christian church, with devotions and prayers.
