[5], viiil, [3], 2-598, [2] pp. Blue cloth with green and gold lettering and decorations on the front board and spine, the book itself has a very attractive design. Price of 25/- net on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with a frontispiece, six folding plates, one full-page illustration, and with several in-text photographs and designs. A later printing of the second edition. A well-designed book that provides a history of Buddhism in one of the most historically fraught places in the modern era. With a Blackwell's bookstore tag on the front pastedown, a bit of foxing to the leaves; jacket has traces of edge wear, particularly to the spine panel.
