SIGNED boldly by the Author in red ink on the front free endpaper, "square" 8vo (9" x 7 7/8"), light beige cloth with gold lettering on maroon label on spine and front cover with facsimile signature of Beverly in gold, profusely illustrated with glossy photos: mainly B&W with some full-color plates, archival mylar-protected pictorial dust jacket (unclipped: $12.50) with oval color photo of Beverly, purple endpapers, 240 pages. Krochs & Brentanos' "1st Edition Circle" bookmark laid in. Beverly Sills (1929 - 2007) was an American operatic soprano whose peak career was between the 1950s and 1970s.<br /> <br /> After retiring from singing in 1980, she became the general manager of the New York City Opera. In 1994, she became the chairwoman of Lincoln Center and then, in 2002, of the Metropolitan Opera, stepping down in 2005.<br /> <br /> SIGNED & in SUPERIOR CONDITION internally & externally. Slight wear and a clean 1/4" nick to the lower front edge of the unclipped dust jacket. No previous owner or remainder markings.
