An interesting ornithological study of british wader birds, beautifully illustrated with watercolour plates throughout. Arnold, who wrote a number of books on the subject. This work contains descriptive notes on different species of British wader birds, including lapwings, plovers and curlews. With fifty-one colourful, illustrated plates to accompany descriptive notes. Collated, complete. With an ink inscription of Elsie Barbara Hall, dated July 1937, to the front endpaper. Two articles from Country Life magazine, dated 1982 and 1987, of 'Waders of Wood and Bog' and 'Globe-trotting Migrants' loosely inserted. In the publisher's original red cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and a touch of fading to the extremities. The occasional small mark to boards. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Dust wrapper is in good condition, with light soiling, moreso to the spine. Light chipping to the wrap, with loss to the rear and to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
