1788 Life of Frederick II of Prussia Germany WARS Austria Politics 4v Laveaux

"The first object in the establishment of an army ought to be making provision for the belly, that being the basis and foundation of all operations
– Frederick the Great

Frederick II was the most famous King of Prussia, notable for his 46 years of reign. He served and ruled over Brandenburg-Prussia and was as significant force in the Wars of Polish and Austrian Succession. Frederick himself invited French historian Jean-Charles Laveaux to embark on a substantial work on the history of the Prussian monarchy (of course, Frederick II was the most important facet of that monarchy).
This time spent with Frederick II allowed Laveaux to publish three different works surrounding the life and reign of Frederick II. 'Life of Frederick II, King of Prussia' includes documents, speeches, anecdotes, and first-hand experiences covering the life and eventual death of 'Old Fritz'.

Description:
1620 Medieval Louis XI King of France Jean de Roye Hundred Years War Charles VII

Louis XI of France was the King of France during the mid-15th-century and was best known for his intense political conspiracies. One of his most important military events was battle and subsequent isolation of Charles the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy, in which Louis signed the Treaty of Picquigny ending the Hundred Years' War – a pact that ultimately ended the dukes of Burgundy dynasty.

The life of Louis XI is best portrayed by French author Jean de Roye in his "Chronicle of Louis XI". De Roye was a 15th-century chronicler whose 'History' encompasses the entirety of Louis XI's reign.

Francois Guizot was a 19th-century French historian known for his extensive portfolio of history books on France, America, and England. One such work was his 'History of England', a work covering the entirety of British history, albeit not as thorough as English historians. It covers important wars, reigns of English kings, the life of Oliver Cromwell, and much more. While the contents and illustrations of this books are impressive, the binding of these tomes is even more desirable! Truly beautiful!
