Leather 8vo, 623 pages, b+w illustrations, 3/4 leather binding, top edge gilt, decorated endpapers Presentation inscription inked on front endpaper: Presented to Major G.R. Macnab, Gordon Highlanders by David S. Miller as a souvenir of his son Captain D.S. Miller, Gordon Highlanders, 5th December 1909, Aberdeen Depot,Castlehill Barracks. G.R. Macnab took part in the relief of Chitral and received the India Medal with the Relief of Chitral clasp. David S. Miller was author of A Captain of the Gordons and saw action in the Boer War and Somaliland campaigns. Winston Churchill called the Gordon Highlanders "... the finest regiment that ever was!" Inked at the top of the title page is "7th April 1900 D.S. Miller 1st Batt.n Gordon Highlanders" The book was printed in a limited edition of 500 copies. There is extremity rubbing; the inside front hinge paper is cracked; 2 signatures protrude slightly from the fore edge; there is a small ink stain on the fore edge; pages 356-7 have thin cardboard glued over the pages (Essex Regiment section.) The book is solid and otherwise clean.
