This is undoubtedly one of the best collections of hauntings from the Brighton and Hove area ever written. What sets it apart from the dozens of other books is not only the amount (more than 150 cases!) of hauntings but also the enormous wealth of research that went into it. John Rackham apparently spent over five years writing it, and rather than re-hash what most other writers have done in the past (and have continued to do since) he went around and personally interviewed more than 400 people! In many cases the old stories from other books have been updated and where possible addresses have been included. We learn that The Royal Pavilion is haunted by Martha Gunn, The Brighton bather and that The Dome and Hanningtons in North Street house a variety of supenatural entities. It is arranged into catagories for easy access, so we get different types of locations. They range from hotels to houses, from shops to factories. Everything is covered. I highly recommend picking up this book. Although it is hard to find now it is definitley worth the price, as it is highly readable.
