New York, NY: John Day Company. Very Good in Good dust jacket. 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Author's first work, with prospectus. 1935 Pulitzer Prize winner in poetry. Ex libris Ivan Doig per bookplate. Inscribed by the typographer Richard Ellis, along with a letter written on the prospectus. Trained as a chemist, Ellis became involved in typography after WWI and continued to design books throughout his life. Green cloth boards are lightly rubbed on edges, interior is clean, binding tight. Mylar-wrapped dust jacket is sunned overall with chips along edges, has not been price-clipped; Book; 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall; Signed by Typographer .
Synopsis
Bright Ambush is a book of poems written by Audrey Wurdemann in 1934. In May, 1935 Wurdemann won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for the book. She was the youngest person to win the prize for poetry.
