First edition of Carl David Arfwedson's dissertation on the Swedish colony in America.



First edition of a dissertation on the events led to the formation of the Swedish West India Company. Contains a number of extracts from original documents preserved in the Palmsköld collection in the Uppsala University Library.



Includes a description of an attack in 1655 made upon the Swedish colonies in New Sweden by the Dutch, under the command of Peter Stuyvesant, Governor of New Netherland (pp. 23-30), and a map of Delaware Bay and the colony of New Sweden.



Carl David Arfwedson (1806-1881) was a Swedish writer, he was elected as an honorary member of The Historical Society of Pennsylvania in 1883.
