Breytenbach was the first director of the first state supported theatre in South Africa: the National Theatre Organisation (NTO). NTO was a bilingual (Afrikaans and English) organisation, now the national theater and named for Breytenbach. This book is filled with articles about South African theatre and Breytenbach himself, in Afrikaans and English. Also includes a chronology and reading list.
