Rider Haggard's historical novel, set during the Third Crusade. This work features important historical figure Saladin as well as the Assassins as chacracters, being a piece of historical fiction set in the Third Crusade of the twelfth century.H. Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English novelist primarily known for his works of adventure fiction, including 'She' and 'King Solomon's Mines'. The majority of his works have exotic settings, primarily Africa, and he was an extremely prolific writer, producing over fifty novels, three short story collections and a number of non-fiction works and works published in periodicals. His works have been adapted for screen many times, with this work made into a 1922 South African film.This is a first edition.With sixteen pages of publisher's advertisements bount to the rear. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, otherwise minor wear. Ownership inscription to the front endpaper. Internally generally firmly bound, both front and rear hinges strained but firm. Pages are bright and clean bar the occasional spot. Very Good
