About This Item

San Francisco, California: Privately Printed, 1951. 25 pages; a limited edition of 200 copies, this being # 2; especially interesting for the endpaper presentation from Haywood Hunt, who designed and printed the book "To my good friend Jim Elliott May 5, '52 Hayw(o)od Hunt" (We note that Mr. Elliott was a member of the Roxburghe Club of San Francisco); the frontispiece portrait engraving of Bret Harte is pencil-signed by Will Wilke, del.; introduction by Carl I. Wheat; bound in marbled-paper covered boards, beige cloth spine, paper title label; some bumping, wear to binding, one leaf with some edge-discoloration (old binder's glue or dye?); good plus condition, and especially nice for the designers' inscription and illustrators signature in the number 2 copy of the print run.. Signed by Illustrator. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good.
