Fine brown boards with slightly faded spine lettering, clean pages and endpapers, bar some slight browning to the title page and frontispiece, with all maps and photographs intact. Fleming's journey into the Amazon in search of the whereabouts of Col Percy Fawcett, the British explorer who had gone to try to find the lost city of Z in the Amazon jungle some ten years earlier and who never reappeared. Fleming's first book, and his most successful, running into many reprints. This edition came two months after the first, and is scarce per se.
