"BRAZIL Today and Tomorrow" by L.E. Elliott. 1917 1st edition; The Macmillan Company; New York. The book is nicely illustrated with numerous photographic plates and maps (2 of the maps are fold-out, and one of the folding maps in in color). Illustrated end papers in color. At the back of the book is an Index and a sections titled "Brazilian Terms." There are five pages of publisher's advertisements at the back. The contents are as follows: History of Brazil, Colonization, Social Conditions, Transportation (River and Road, Rail, Shipping), Industries, Finance (Currency, Investments, Debts), The World's Horticultural and Medicinal Debt to Brazil, Brazil's Exterior Commerce, List of Brazilian States Areas and Population, Glossary of Brazilian Terms.
Condition:
Clean front and back covers; the illustration at the center of the spine has partially faded. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Occasional pages have an "Acton Library Association" embossed stamp. "Property of DT EASTMAN" stamped in red ink on the half title page. The title page, pages 1, 59, 235 & 235, and the maps after pages 274 & 310 each have "C 548" stamped in ink. The pages are otherwise clean with only a few random pages with a light smudge in the outer margin. Overall the book is in Good+ condition.
