Edition thus these illustrations not stated, 12mo, 284pp, original black cloth lettered, decorated, embellished and illustrated gilt, line engravings by Caldecott; this Caldecott edition engraved by James Cooper appeared in 1882 after the success of Old Christmas (1875) illustrated by Caldecott, sumptuously decorated covers in gilt showing lady beneath tree, all edges gilt, inner paper hinges cracked front and back but o/w this is a bright example with front board gilt intact and the spine only dulled a little; minor wear to spine ends, overall VG Copy. Illustrated Boards. Very Good. Illus. by Caldecott, Randolph. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
Synopsis
Bracebridge Hall, or The Humorists, A Medley was written by Washington Irving in 1821, while he lived in England, and published in 1822. This episodic novel was originally published under his pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon.
