Lettering and decoration on spine is worn, there is a portion of the leather missing to the foot of volume 2. Joints are slightly loose and could do with reinforcing, the front cover of vol 1 is loose.. Sprinkled page edges. Text block is tight and clean. Vol.I- 336pp. Vol. 2- 347pp.

Origional full calf bindings with gilt spine and front and back board decoration. Edges marbled. Both volumes have a degree of internal splitting between the paste down and the book. A page between IV and 3 in volume 1 is missing. Both volumes are internally sound with a modicum of foxing to end papers. PP iv, 391 & iv, 401. FEP's in vol 2 are loose.
