First Edition decorated American trade binding. (signed binding - monogram appears to be GWH - George W. Hood). Green cloth boards with black, green, blue and white illustration of two children playing in a water garden in front of the white house. Green title box with cream lettering on cover, cream lettering and small decoration on spine. No fraying, a few very light surface scratches to cover illustration. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean front endpapers; rear endpapers have pencilled list of all U.S. president's name from George Washington through Dwight Eisenhower. Frontis illustration + eleven additional illustrations (black and white plates). 326 pages..
