About This Item

In near fine condition, with a very good DJ, a 3/4 inch closed tear at the top of front panel. Inscribed and signed by the author on the title page. Wide open boozing was a fact of life in the pioneer west of Canada. And it didn't stay in Canada - booze runners came into the states. In Winnipeg, there is a legend that the city had an informal arrangment with Ginger Snooks, its most famous scavenger, to make a midnight sweep of the alleys behind the Main Street hotels with horse and wagon during the late fall and winter, and to cart the passed-out drunks to the police station. His fee was one dollar per body delivered..
