Cloth cover is clean and dust jacket shows little if any signs of wear. Seeing an ad in her Sunday paper "Brakemen Wanted" started Ms. Nieman on an adventure of a life time. Becoming a brakeman then a "Boomer" which is a brakeman who follows the as it migrates with the seasons and with periods of boom and bust she became one of the first women to go railroading with the Southern Pacific and perhaps the only one with a Ph.D. This is the story of her years on the road.
