FIRST US EDITION, SIGNED BY ILLUSTRATOR. 8vo, incl. engraved frontispieces to each book and numerous in-text engravings in blue by Leighton, many of rural scenes, as might be expected. Original beige cloth spine and rear board, blue cloth front board, lettered in blue and gilt. Extremities bruised and worn, edges tobacco-toned. Signed by Leighton in black pen to recto of her engraved frontispiece, a little tobacco-musty, rear hinge starting, but binding firm, else, clean. Unusual signed by Leighton. Good+ This title, with Leighton's engravings, was never published in the UK.
