FIRST EDITION FIRST ISSUE 1952, 8vo, 190 x 125 mm, 7½ x 5 inches, YELLOW CLOTH, SPINE GILT LETTERED AND DECORATED with small gilt ornament under title and small gilt falcon at tail, 260 pages. 8 delightful two tone plates (green and white, yellow and brown and variations) plus black and white illustrations, full-page and in the text. Large ink inscription on front endpaper (lots of 'x's), ink name and address on rear endpaper (see images). Otherwise very good plus in very good DUSTWRAPPER (dw: very lightly soiled, 5 mm (¼") chips at head and tail of hinges and corners, another to lower edge of upper panel, spine bit darkened, 15 mm (¾") closed tear to upper panel, 40 mm (1½") closed tear to lower panel). Lyonne is a pyjama-case cum hotwater-bottle cover who has an exciting and wonderful life as king of the nursery. The second issue was bound in blue boards lettered black.
