Large octavo. civ, 427 pp, [1]. 5 illustrations including 2 full-page plates: frontispiece engraving by W B Hole with facsimile of the Author's signature and colour plate of "A Nook in the Author's library". Book Condition: Good. Publishers' blue buckram with gilt titles and ruling to spine and gilt crest to upper board. Edges uncut. Limitation plate to front pastedown. Cloth worn with minor loss at corners and head/tail of spine. Inner front hinge split with stains from adhesive tape removal and inner rear hinge still covered with cream adhesive tape. Scattered foxing mainly to endpapers. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown dated 1900 and signature of author S R Crockett in ink to ffep. Ghost marks from pencilled address to ffep. Essays on book collecting and the characters and literature associated with it, originally published in Blackwood's magazine. From the library of Samuel Rutherford Crockett (1859-1914), the popular and prolific Scottish novelist.
