The images show scenes from the Bible relating to the readings for the particular Sundays and Holy Days. There are images of various saints whose feasts are kept in the Church of England and, in acknowledgement of the established nature of the English Church, there are engravings of Queen Anne and of the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, the Martyrdom of Charles I and the Restoration of Charles II. We have been unable to trace the artist but the work is of good quality and the hand colouring is gorgeously rich and vibrant.
