A truly rare and highly desirable 18th-century Holy Bible and Book of Common Prayer from the Church of England. Like many similar works, this book includes the Psalms of David, calendars, orders of prayers, tables and rules for devotion, and litanies and prayers.
This impressive set not only includes the Book of Common Prayer, but it contains the entire King James Holy Bible, as well as an additional printing of Sternhold and Hopkins's Whole Book of Psalms in meter. Note the beautiful, Moroccan leather binding!

o Likely belonging to John Crichton-Stuart, 2nd Marquess of Bute, KT, FRS (1793–1848), a wealthy aristocrat and industrialist in Georgian and early Victorian Britain. He developed the coal and iron industries across South Wales and built the Cardiff Docks. He inherited numerous titles from various family members, several of which are present in this coat of arms, including as Marquess of Bute, Earl of Windsor, and Earl of Dumfries.
