Description: Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1843. 32mo (4.75 x 3 x 1.25 in). A beautiful little prayer book with all edges gilt featuring a triple fore-edge painting. The paintings include the words "read" to the top edge, "digest" to the bottom edge, and "mark and learn" to the fore-edge. The covers feature an embossed cross, the spine with four raised blind-ruled bands and blind-tooling to compartments with the word "prayer" lettered in gilt. A fully functioning clasp with the monogram "IHS". The interior boasts marbled endpapers and inner dentelles. The text is printed in both red and black and the Book of Common Prayer is supplemented by the Psalms of David.
Condition: Covers very slightly rubbed. Pages are crisp and clean. The word "learn" is more faded. Lacks front marbled endpaper, else a fine copy of a unique little prayer book.
