An absolutely beautiful printing of the Book of Common Prayer from the Church of England. While editions of the Book of Common Prayer were printed for centuries before and after this edition, this printing is of particular value because of the impressive illustrations and illustrated borders.
While many of the illustrations are just decorative, some of the images are rather bizarre – such as the 'Psalms of David' which is bordered by skeletons and depictions of death! It also includes an allegorical view of Queen Elizabeth I.
