About This Item

1675 Oxford Book of Common Prayer Church of England Anglican GUNPOWDER PLOT

A VERY rare and desirable 17th-century 'Book of Common Prayer' published by Barker. This popular devotional and supplement to the Bible was a critical part of the early English Church liturgy and doctrine. This edition features the Book of Psalms.

This 1675 edition of the Book of Common Prayer is considerably rare and contains the Psalms of David.

Also included at the end are:

· "Forms of Prayer to be used at Sea,"

· "A form of Prayer with Thanksgiving to be used yearly upon the Fifth day of November for the happy deliverance of the King and the three Estates of the Realm from the most Traiterous and Bloody intended Massacre by Gun-powder"

· "A Form of Common Prayer, to be used yearly upon the 30 day of January, being the day of the Martyrdom of King Charles the First,"

· "A Form of Prayer with Thanksgiving to be used yearly on the 29th day of May; Being the day of His Majesties [king Charles II's] Birth, and happy Return to His Kingdoms".
